Mary Ann Levitt Appointed President Of WHFA

The WHFA membership unanimously appointed Mary Ann Levitt, Breuners Arizona, Scottsdale, AZ as 2003 WHFA President. Her installation was held January 18 at the WHFA Retail Resource Center, during the WHFA Annual Membership Meeting at the San Francisco Furniture Market. Mary Ann, is a fourth generation home furnishings storeowner, She has been a member of WHFA since 1993 and has served on the Board of Directors since 1994. She is also a member of the National Home Furnishings Association Board of Directors. Mary Ann addressed the members, “WHFA has grown in membership, in financial strength, and in services for the members at a fantastic pace the last two years. WHFA’s growth is spectacular when you consider that in 1994, when I joined the board, we had 400 members representing 800 stores. Today, we have just crossed the 1,000 member threshold, representing 2,700 stores.” “WHFA has been a part of my business life for a long time and has given me so much. I am now honored to give back and serve the members as President. WHFA is committed to fulfilling furniture retailer’s needs. And we will continue to do so by using the combined buying power of our members to provide savings on products and services, being a central information source, and providing members with networking and educational opportunities though conferences and seminars. I thank you for this special opportunity and look forward to serving you in 2003.” The WHFA President serves a term of one year concluding at the membership meeting during the Winter Market. The President’s duties include: preside at all board meetings, appoints new board members, serve on the WHFA Finance Committee, write a monthly article for the Western Reporter, and in general oversees and monitors all programs, services and staff of WHFA.
