Katharine Lambeth of Erwin Lambeth Passes

Katharine Covington Lambeth, co-founder and President of Erwin Lambeth Furniture was the daughter of Richard DePew and Corinna Chisholm Covington. She married James Erwin Lambeth, Jr, on August 27,1938, who preceded her in death. She graduated from Thomasville High School and then from Meredith College, where she studied music and received a B.A. from the school in 1938. She also studied interior design at Parsons School of Design and received an honorary Doctorate of Laws from Oral Roberts University. Kay Lambeth was president of ErwinLambeth for more than 35 years and was a prominent fixture in the furniture world, creating and designing until the time of her death. Gov. Jim Hunt appointed her to the State Economic Development Board, where she served on from 1979-1985. Kay also served for 15 years (19 78-1992) on the board of regents for Oral Roberts University and on the board of the Bernice Bienenstock Furniture Library. She was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow award, and has been listed in "Who's Who of American Women" since 1963.
