The American Furniture Hall of Fame, founded on George Washington's Birthday February 22, 1998, celebrates ten years of dedication to the collection and preservation of furniture history. To date, it has memorialized the lives of 39 individuals who have contributed to its growth and development, by electing them as permanent members to the American Furniture hall of Fame. Additionally, the Oral Histories of twenty-one industry leaders, who have been recorded and transcribed into print, provide solid personal data, observations, and industry milestones to add to the collection of historic data. AFHF "History and Heroes" videos have been produced each year beginning in 1990 providing a historic and personal treasure of the induction banquets and the history of the new members, their family and company. An ambitious program of collecting Archives has produced a growing library of books, photographs, marketing/advertising materials, designer catalogues and early video releases as well as furniture miniature antiquities. "As our furniture companies are purchased, become partners or became absorbed, the treasure of our history is being tossed out and lost," said Jerome Bolick, president of the American Furniture Hall of Fame. "We are losing our chance to learn from the past and to treasure our beginnings."
