The recent Mid-Atlantic Furniture & Accessory Market provided a rare "sneak peek" into the industry's most distinctive designs, and the thousands who attended were more than grateful. The industry's top trends were revealed when Karel Exposition Management (KEM) held the exhibit on Feb. 7, 8 and 9 at the New Jersey Convention Center in Edison, NJ. KEM, the nation's largest producer of regional furniture and decorative accessory markets, has been presenting the industry's most popular furnishings for 47 years, and made this season's show an intriguing -- and sold-out -- event. "KEM's Edison market was the usual success Karel promises and delivers, said Amanda Boutin of Oak Designs. "The show allowed us to 'test drive' various styles in our youth and adult bedroom lines. We left the show excited and eagerly anticipating our continued expansion into the Mid-Atlantic market. " Both domestic and foreign manufacturers and wholesalers displayed their latest designs and creations for the many stores at the regional market. With over 700 exhibit spaces, the show featured handcrafted furniture sets, outdoor accessories, case goods, decorative light fixtures, fine artwork and much more as exhibitors displayed their current and future best-sellers. "I have participated in this exposition for the last three years, " said Fred Baron of Valentino Salotti, "and each year is more exciting than the last. My thanks to Larry Karel and his staff for making these markets possible. " Similar comments were made by a number of exhibitors, including compliments from Harley International, Rattan Furniture Imports, Upton Industries and Metro Sales of New York. Because the recent market was sold out for nearly two months, interested attendees are encouraged to respond early for when the exhibition returns to the New Jersey Convention Center on August 8, 9 and 10 of this year. The markets are not open to the public, and no persons under 13 are admitted, but media coverage is welcomed. Based in its new office in Aventura, Fla., Karel Exposition Management also holds regional markets at Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Hartford, Conn.; Orlando, Fla.; Las Vegas, Nev.; Fitchburg, Mass.; and Pomona, Calif.
