Catherine Stein will be featured at the IHFC® Press Breakfast Thursday, April 23, IHFC® Green Wing, 11th floor, International Ballroom A, 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. Catherine Stein is a native New Yorker, founder and president of THE COLOR COUNCIL, a color and trend service for designers, manufacturers, product developers, and retailers in the Home Furnishings and Contract industries. Having attended Pratt Institute and receiving her B.F.A. from the College of New Rochelle, she interned at the Whitney Museum of Art before moving into the field of Visual Merchandising and Store Planning. From there she established her own interior design firm called s p a c e s , which led her into research and development for interior product manufacturers and home furnishings industries. Previously, Ms. Stein was Creative Marketing Director for the interior division of The Color Box, a fashion color and trend forecasting company for apparel. It was there that she began to research worldwide color and design trends - analyzing, editing, and translating worldwide influences in the Home Furnishings and Fashion industries for the American market. Global travel has led to an international client list and includes companies as diverse as Russ Berie & Co. to General Motors. Ms. Stein is a member of The Color Association of the United States and the Color Marketing Group. She is an active member of the International Furnishings and Design Association, and she represents the Home Fashion industry as a member of the American Trend and Color Committee for the International Fashion Fabric Exhibition. She also serves as a panel member of FUTURE FOCUS for The New York Home Textiles Show. By cultivating a unique color system, along with detailed market and consumer trend reports, THE COLOR COUNCIL -with an advisory board consisting of fourteen industry professionals-serves to keep the Home Fashion industries on the (proverbial) cutting edge!
