Brent Burton Joins AFMA Staff

Brent Burton has joined the staff of the American Furniture Manufacturers Association (AFMA) as Director of Transportation and Logistics. In his new position, Burton will assist AFMA member companies in matters impacting the transportation and logistics function of furniture manufacturing companies. Prior to joining AFMA, Bur-ton served as Corporate Traffic Manager/Shipping Manager of The Cluett Corporation in Winston-Salem, NC. Prior to The Cluett Corporation, he served for 12 years with United Transportation Services, Inc in various positions including Commercial Audit Supervisor and General Services Administration (GSA) Account Manager. "We are very pleased to welcome Brent to our outstanding staff," said Douglas L. Brackett, AFMA Executive Vice President. "His knowledge and experience in the Transportation and Logistics realm will be a great benefit to our membership." Burton received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1983. Burton is active in his community by participating as a young adults Sunday school teacher at Mocks United Methodist Church in Advance, NC. His hobbies include family outings, golf, surf fishing and landscaping. Burton and wife Terri have two sons, Bradley (age 7) and Benjamin (age 6). AFMA is a nonprofit, volunteer organization for U.S. furniture manufacturers, with over 350 corporate members representing 150,000 employees and more than 75% of domestic and global shipments of U.S. furniture. Headquartered in High Point, North Carolina, the world's furniture capital, AFMA also maintains a Washington, DC office to represent the interests of the furniture industry on legislative and regulatory affairs to the government.
