La-Z-Boy Incorporated has named David A. Layman vice president of manufacturing for the company's residential upholstery business. Promoted from his position as vice president of La-Z-Boy's Midwest plant facility in Neosho, Mo., Layman takes over responsibility for operations at all of La-Z-Boy's nine residential plants nationwide. He reports directly to Gerald L. Kiser, executive vice president and chief operating officer of La-Z-Boy. Layman began his career with La-75-Boy as an upholsterer in 1971. After 14 years of serving the Neosho operation in a variety of capacities, he moved to Monroe where he was director of manufacturing services and industrial engineering. In 1988, he moved back to Neosho as plant superintendent and was promoted in 1992 to general manager and then vice president of the La-Z-Boy Midwest facility. "Dave brings a wealth of experience in upholstery manufacturing and operations management to his new role," said Kiser. "His outstanding performance throughout the years made him an excellent choice for this appointment."
