Western Home Furnishings Association Makes Landmark Decision- Free Legal Counsel Now Available to Membership

For the first time, members of the Western Home Furnishings Association (WHFA) in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada and Utah are covered with free legal business consultant services. WHFA has contracted with two firms to support its membership of 1,400 retail stores with questions concerning business law and human resources. To handle questions regarding home furnishings businesses, partnerships, corporations, leasing of real property and equipment, vendor and freight disputes, and credit/finance laws and regulations, The San Francisco-based Law Offices of Seymour Seidscher was hired. Labor Relations questions including Human Resources, Government Regulatory Issues, Labor Relations, and Training & Development questions can be directed to the American Consulting Group, Inc. with offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles. "A number of WHFA members have used both resources for some time and give them extremely high marks for their timeliness and thoroughness," says Larry Miller, Sit 'N Sleep, Montebello, CA and chairman of WHFA's Member Services Committee. "WHFA members now have the confidence of knowing any business law or human resource problem or need can be immediately resolved legally and constructively. WHFA members have unlimited access to both resources." Seymour Seidscher has specialized in problems facing home furnishings businesses since 1978. Born into a family of furniture manufacturing and retailers dating back to the early 1900's in Chicago and Los Angeles, Seymour Seidscher decided to start his own furniture career in northern California. After attending the University of Southern California, he moved to San Francisco in 1951 to work as a sales representative for several eastern case goods manufacturers and in 1957 he added the Los Angeles upholstery line of Hiatt Furniture Manufacturers to his selling organization and the group of lines they represented. In 1978, Seymour completed his law degree schooling and was admitted to the California State Bar. The natural location for this new law office was the San Francisco Mart where he has been a tenant since coming to San Francisco. Seidscher has a general practice with emphasis and special interests in the problems of small home furnishings businesses, partnerships and corporations, leasing of real property and equipment, vendor and freight disputes, and credit/finance laws and regulations. Human Resource and Labor Relations consultation is provided through The American Consulting Group, Inc. specializing in Human Resources, Government Regulatory Issues, Labor Relations, and Training & Development. This new program is designed to assist home furnishings retailers contain costly court litigation through a preventative approach in managing human resources issues and concerns. WHFA members have unlimited telephone access to a knowledgeable staff of 21 labor law attorneys, former union officials, human resource specialists, and a comprehensive resource library.
