STORIS Management Systems has introduced STORIS SLS. a new technology that integrates Symbol's Palm Pilot scanner with STORIS' current Point-of-Sale software. STORIS SLS will Virtually transform the way retailers enter sales orders. "STORIS has now made it possible for retailers to enter sales orders without the use of a keyboard. This state-of-the-art technology will increase the number of sales -written per day as well as enhance the professionalism of your company at a most affordable cost," said Ira Bakst. Senior Vice President of STORIS. The Palm Pilot is a pocket sized, laser based scanner which allows for one hand scanning. STORIS SLS ensures orders will be entered more accurately by eliminating keypunching errors. Bakst projects that with this new technology salespeople will spend more time selling and less time doing paperwork. In addition, due to its laser beam technology the scanner never touches the label, which eliminates replacing of worn or smudged labels. With STORIS SLS retailers merely glide the Palm Pilot's infrared laser beam over the barcode of any floor tag and the product information is automatically stored in the Palm Pilot. Once all the customer's products of interest have been scanned , the Palm Pilot is easily docked in the cradle at a terminal and with the push of a button the sales order process is initiated. As a by-product every order is quickly verified including stock availability, which enables the salespeople to easily close business.
