AMERICAN FURNITURE HALL OF FAME SEEKS 1997 NOMINATIONS

AFHF sponsors nominate leaders who have made notable contributions to the development and growth of the American furniture industry. Candidates can be nominated posthumously.
Members of the American Furniture Hall of Fame who were inducted in 1996 now have their portraits mounted on the AFHF Wall in the Furniture Discovery Center, High Point, NC.
Voting will take place from September 1 through September 15, 1997. The newly elected members will be inducted and honored during the AFHF Banquet Gala on opening day of furniture market, Thursday, October 16,1997 in High Point, North Carolina.
Members of the AFHF inducted from 1989 to 1996 include: Hollis S. Baker, John D. Bassett, John C. Bernhardt, Nathan I. Bienenstock, Rose G. Blumkin, Harold P. Braun, James Edgar Broyhill, David J. Brunn, Robert G. Culp, Sr., Thomas A. Finch, Jr., Henry A. Foscue, Morris Futorian, J. Raymond Gerken, Robert A. Glick, Robert P. Gruenberg, James J. Haverty, Mary M. Henkel, Robert O. Huffman, Leo Jiranek, J. Wade Kincaid, Edward M. Knabusch, Peter E. Kroehler, Edward H. Lane, Hyman Meyers, Patrick H. Norton, Hampton O. Powell, Joseph E. Richardson II, Amos G. Rhodes, Lawrence K. Schnadig, Edwin J. Shoemaker, Charles R. Sligh, Gustav Stickley, Charles F. Tomlinson, Parks C. Underdown, Thomas Franklin Wrenn, and J. Smith Young.
"All sectors of the industry including manufacturers, retailers, suppliers, sales representatives and furniture designers are eligible to be nominated as members and can become sponsors," says Irving Lowenstein, Rhodes, Inc, the president of the American Furniture Hall of Fame. "The AFHF was organized to honor those individuals whose outstanding achievements have contributed to the continued growth and development of the American furniture industry. It is vital that industry leaders become sponsors so that they can identify, nominate and vote for those most deserving of the honor...not forgetting the generation of pioneers."
