From January 19-25, 2004, IMM Cologne 2004, The International Furniture Fair will be held again at the fairgrounds in Cologne, Germany. All main industry players are expected to return and show management expects 1,400 exhibitors to take part in that show. IMM is considered the world’s leading and most international trade show for Furnishing and Furniture Accessories. The show is viewed as an industry barometer showing latest design trends and providing industry and trade with a vision of the future. Back by popular demand is, “THE IDEAL HOUSES” concept, which is becoming a tradition at IMM. This year’s event will show two different interior design life style concepts. Two pairs of brothers will feature their design work: the Brazilian Campana brothers, Huberto and Fernando and their French counter parts, the Bouroullec brothers, Ronan and Erwan. Special events and programs will also take place at this year’s IMM: The “INTERIOR INNOVATION AWARD” and the “YOUNG DESIGNER OF THE YEAR AWARD” will be presented during IMM. The show will also have a platform for new designers: “ INSPIRED BY COLOGNE” and a forum for new trends: “INFORMED BY COLOGNE”. When IMM was last held in 2003, 1,400 companies from 51 countries took part and showed their products to over 132,000 visitors. Internationality was high: Every third visitor came from countries other than Germany. The six-day event attracts primarily Residential Furniture Retailers and Manufacturers, Interior Designers, Architects and Carpentry Craftsmen. The show also serves as a major meeting point for suppliers to the furniture industry. The product segments are geared towards high-end furnishings with a strong emphasis on contemporary style.
