Racing Furniture, makers of authentic NASCAR-and Corvette-licensed furniture, has a winning strategy for capturing the eye of 75 million NASCAR fans and car enthusiasts in the United States. “We’re designing good-looking, high-quality furniture that reflects the look and feel of the cars that NASCAR and automotive fans are passionate about,” explains Brown Councill, CEO of Racing Furniture. “We’re not simply adding a logo to an existing chair; we’re taking specific design elements from the cars and designing furniture that is true to the source.” Racing Furniture launched its NASCAR line of leather chairs, ottomans and sofas last April at the spring International Home Furnishings market in High Point. The collection included the famous #3 as well as signature pieces from Jeff Gordon #24, Kevin Harvick #29, Jimmie Johnson #48, and drag racing legend John Force. Since then, the company has added a premier line of Corvette-styled leather chairs and several models geared to hot rod enthusiasts. At the fall furniture market here this week, Racing Furniture further expands its product line, offering the same NASCAR designs and high-quality construction upholstered with a micro fiber fabric. The company is also adding several end tables and a bar set designed to complement its NASCAR and Corvette seating. In less than one year, Racing Furniture’s NASCAR and Corvette lines have created quite a buzz among race fans and car enthusiasts. The company is selling product through various specially dealers such as Hot Rod Hardware. “Without a doubt, Racing Furniture is the sexiest, most comfortable feeling, high-performance seating on the market,” says Hot Rod’s Gary Case. “Besides the great feel, it looks awesome!” Racing Furniture has also been spotlighted magazines such as Car & Driver, Automotive Magazine, Motor Trend, Racer Magazine and Automobile. NASCAR and Corvette products are also expected to be included in holiday guides and November/December issues of Corvette Fever, Vette Vues and Corvette Enthusiast, plus various popular men’s magazines. Traditional furniture retailers have begun to take notice of Racing Furniture and its intended consumer. Major home furnishings retailers Nebraska Furniture Mart and Rose Furniture are among the first to carry the NASCAR line and other top retailers are quickly getting on track. “Racing Furniture is a unique and very timely line with NASCAR being so hot right now,” says Ann Parmenter, upholstery buyer for Nebraska Furniture Mart. “As a new company, we’re just hitting our stride in terms of generating awareness among the big furniture retailers,” notes Councill. “We’ve stirred up a lot of interest and expect this week’s market to be a busy one.”
