RS Industrial, Inc. (RSI) formally unveiled its revolutionary Dry Glue‘ product line at the International Woodworking Fair in Atlanta, Georgia, August 26-29. RSI’s Dry Glue‘ product TacAll‘ is ideal for the woodworking industry. It requires no equipment to apply, provides instant adhesion, and requires no drying or curing and contains no VOC’s. TacAll‘ allows the user to apply a specific amount of adhesive within the confines of a pre-selected area to be glued. The user gets the exact amount without bleed-through or squeeze-out. It can be manufactured in patch form up to 72 inches wide, 60 mils thick and in continuous or pre-selected lengths. For example, TacAll‘ can be made in a specific size to fit a four-foot by eight-foot sheet of plywood or made in a patch as small as a quarter inch square that is 2 mils thick. Considered by the Retail Packaging Association to be one of the best new products in the marketplace, Dry Glue‘ is being hailed as the first major adhesive innovation to hit the market in 40 years. This 21st century product employs pure, pressure sensitive adhesive films in the form of Pre-Engineered Adhesive Patches (PEAP Technology) providing an effective alternative to traditional fastening methods such as staples, plastic, tape, thread, and can reduce the use of screws and nails in non-structured applications - the best thing being that no application equipment is required. This product has special significance for the furniture manufacturing industry and has specific application for foam bonding. This is needed particularly in upholstered furniture that requires an adhesive to immediately bond folded back foam to wood surfaces. RS Industrial’s TacAll‘ foam to foam and foam to nonwoven material bonding ability, drastically reduces the need for mechanical fasteners and sewing steps in the production process. All of this adds up to tremendous advantages and savings for manufacturers. With Dry Glue‘ there is no capital outlay for machinery, no maintenance, flexibility to work and assemble in different parts of the plant, improved safety, no clean up, no use of water or solvents, no drying time, and the product is ideally suited for product assembly done by hand. These Dry Glue‘ methods also provide extensive cost savings in the packaging side of the industry. Furniture manufacturers now have an in-house method to affix angle board, EPS foam and other protective materials in their packaging. The trend towards more and more furniture catalog sales requires increased protective packaging – the use of TacAll‘ with angle board or EPS is considerably less expensive than using double or triple wall corrugated methods of more rigid and tougher packaging. “The TacAll‘ adhesive patches have provided innovative solutions to varied process problems created by a diverse and rapidly changing product line. This is significant for us,” said Tim Watson, Senior Corporate Industrial Engineer, at Simmons Institute of Technology and Education of the Simmons Company. “We are pleased that our Dry Glue‘ product line provides multiple solutions across a wide variety of industries,” said Scott Allen, CEO of RS Industrial, Inc. “ TacAll‘ is poised to replace many of the traditional bonding and fastening methods currently used today and provides not only a more cost effective solution, but also one that is more binding.” About RS Industrial, Inc.: Established in 1993, RS Industrial, Inc. is a national leader in the development and distribution of adhesives and unique converted products.
