Haverty Furniture Reports All-Time Record Sales for August

Haverty Furniture Companies, Inc., reported all-time record sales for any month for the period ended August 31, 2003. Havertys' August sales increased 10.7% to $67.3 million compared with $60.8 million in August 2002. On a comparable-store basis, August sales increased 5.6%. Comparable-store sales do not include locations opened, closed or otherwise non-comparable during the last 12 months. Sales for the first eight months of 2003 totaled $474.2 million versus $458.7 million for2002, representing an increase of 3.4%. On a comparable-store basis, sales decreased 2.4% for the first eight months.
