Doug Buhler, President and CEO of Bühler Furniture is announced that effective September 1, 2004, Bühler Furniture acquired the operating assets of Winnipeg based upholstery manufacturer Regal Furniture Mfg. Regal was founded in 1972 and services 200+ retail accounts across Canada and the USA. “We believe this acquisition positions us a leader in the Canadian marketplace and will allow Bühler furniture to compete in exports markets in the USA” states Buhler. “We are looking forward to many years of growth for Bühler Furniture and adding Regal to our family is a great step forward.” Bühler Furniture will fulfill all current orders for Regal Furniture Mfg. and will continue to manufacture under the Regal and Buhler names. The Welsley Manor, Style Select, Regal lines will now be manufactured by Bühler. Not included in the acquisition is the Pulse Upholstery division of Regal Furniture. Chuck Golfman, founder & owner of Regal Furniture, will be retained as a consultant through the transition. Key staff of Regal Furniture will also be hired by Bühler Furniture in order to maintain the high level of service and quality Regal is known for and to provide a smooth transition. Bühler Furniture is Canada’s largest manufacturer of Collector Cabinets, with a large line of Home Entertainment Units as well. In 2002, Bühler Furniture acquired the Thomas Rathwell Co. upholstery division, and operations will continue under all labels. “By combining Bühler, Rathwell, Regal, Welsley Manor and the Style Select lines in to one operation, Bühler Furniture has positioned itself as the dominant player in the Canadian furniture manufacturing industry in the transitional and traditional categories” adds Buhler. “We believe that the marketplace is interested in high quality domestically made goods that can be manufactured quickly and don’t require a container load order. This is where the future is”.
