Kingsdown, Inc., a leading bedding manufacturer that believes the better you sleep, the better you live, is celebrating its 100-year anniversary by giving back to communities throughout the country. The Mebane-based company,
and their Canadian partner, Kingsdown Canada, is hosting a $1 million "Swing for Kids" Celebrity Golf Classic, October 8-10 at Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, N.C. All proceeds will be donated to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals both locally and throughout North America.
"We believe it's important to reach out to the communities that have helped our company grow over the past 100 years," says Eric Hinshaw, chairman and CEO of Kingsdown. "And when you visit Children's Miracle Network hospitals located in these communities, you leave with an overwhelming desire to help the children and their families."
A variety of celebrities are scheduled to play in the tournament, including NFL veterans Chad Cota and Alex Molden; Mark Alarie and Austin Carr of NBA fame, Nashville singer/songwriter Dillon Dixon, Jim Cantore of the Weather Channel and various personalities including Kathryn Crosby, wife of the late performer, Bing Crosby. To reach the $1 million goal, Kingsdown has recruited over 30 corporate sponsors from the US, Canada, and Japan, who are contributing anywhere from $2,500 for hole sponsorships to $100,000 Presenting sponsorships to make the event a resounding success.
The weekend of events commences with a Gala on Friday evening in the Cardinal Ballroom with a Live Auction and a Children's Miracle Network presentation hosted by famed Broadway performer, Norm Lewis. Saturday morning, golfers and celebrities will kick-off the tournament with a shotgun start at 9:00 am on Pinehurst 5, with an Awards Dinner in the private members club, following that evening.
"It is through the generosity of our corporate partners we can ensure that the most desperately ill children in the region receive the care and expertise that they need to live happy and healthy lives," says Jennifer Lackey, senior development officer for the Children's Miracle Network.
