Karel Exposition Management (KEM) - the US's largest producer of Regional Furniture & Accessory Markets - has appointed Vietnam Resource Group, a consulting firm based in Washington DC, as its sole agent in promoting US Furniture Markets within Vietnam. Vietnamese woodwork has been exported to more than 120 countries with the US, European Union and Japan being the biggest markets. According to the Furniture Today magazine, Vietnam is emerging as a best place in Asia to outsource woodwork. To provide Vietnamese companies with opportunities to tap into the US furniture market, KEM has decided to set up a Vietnam Pavilion at the upcoming 17th Long Beach Furniture & Accessory Market from Nov. 21 to 23, 2004. In addition, a networking meeting will also be scheduled to introduce Vietnamese manufacturers to the Home Furnishing Representatives Guild of Southern California to explore various ways for Vietnamese companies to market and distribute their products in the US. Larry Karel, President of KEM, has been promoting Furniture Markets for over 45 years. With a full staff of 13, KEM strive to make this Long Beach show as productive as possible for both the Vietnamese exhibitors and buyers. Based on the Vietnamese Ministry of Trade, the US woodwork import from Vietnam has been increased significantly from US$ 73 million in 2002 to US$ 167 million in 2003 and that number will definitely increased especially with the imposing of the antidumping tariff on certain furniture products from China.
