Cascades Re-Plast and Messier Designers win IIDEX/NeoCon Gold Award at Toronto show

Cascades Re-Plast and Messier Designers are the winners of a Gold Award in the Sustainable Design category for the Kingsey™ series of quality urban furniture. The coveted prize was awarded at IIDEX/NeoCon 2004 in Toronto on September 30. The urban furniture in the Kingsey™ series, shown at the booth of Toronto distributor Classic Displays, was a huge hit, attracting many visitors who appreciate quality design in addition to winning the judges’ seal of approval. This high-profile prize is yet another feather in the collective caps of Cascades Re-Plast and Messier Designers for their R&D work in the design of top-end urban furniture integrating recycled plastic. The “imperialist modern” design is streamlined, free of superfluous decorative elements.The structure of Kingsey™ benches is specifically designed for the use of recycled plastic planks. The Kingsey™ system provides support along the full length of the planks, which dilate according to the whims of the weather. For the first time, recycled plastic is being used not just as a wood replacement but as an integral component of urban furniture designed exclusively with its use in mind. Messier Designers’ talents appear to full advantage in this challenging project, pushing the limits of the recycled plastic plank manufacturing process to allow the use of curved planks for a sensual feeling of complete comfort – a first in the manufacture of recycled plastic benches. Materials: Planks made of 100% recycled plastic, primarily composed of high-density polyethylene. Structure composed of extrusions and cast aluminum, with ultra-resistant electrostatic polyester covering.
