Bassett Furniture Industries, Inc. announced that it is partnering with noted New York designer, author and retailer Pamela Scurry to develop an exclusive collection of juvenile furniture for Babies R Us.
The initial Pamela Scurry Collection will encompass a crib, three drawer chest with optional changing top, and chifforobe. The collection will be available in Babies R Us stores across the country next month.
"Pam Scurry is known for taking the ordinary and making it extraordinary," said Lex Bendall, Bassett vice president of juvenile. "She has done just that in Bassett’s infant furniture."
Mr. Bendall added, "Consumers want the same quality and design for their babies as they do for the rest of the home. The home is truly the center of family life and it is important to show this throughout the home."
Ms. Scurry partnered with Bassett because of the company’s reputation for high quality and design.
"It is very exciting to launch the Pamela Scurry Collection with Bassett," said Ms. Scurry. "There is a need in the market for a pretty, antique-inspired collection and we are working with two fine companies, Bassett and Babies R Us, to bring this to consumers."
The Collection is a neo-classical design with crisp, clean lines. The colorway is white. The crib has a curved headboard and footboard along with a canopy. Each bed post has a finial that, like the crib itself, is inspired by an antique. The chest of drawers has embellished features such as fluted sides and replicated glass knobs. The knobs were inspired from Pam Scurry’s private collection of antique knobs. The chifforobe is a beautiful piece with a door cabinet. It has the coordinating side fluting as well as glass knobs. The new Pamela Scurry Collection of juvenile furniture from Bassett Furniture presents a fresh look with a sense of refined beauty, offering exceptional quality and value.

The Company plans to open 20 to 25 new stores each year for the next five years with a goal of about 300 stores nationwide. Bassett’s retail strategy would be difficult to duplicate in the category – affordable custom-built furniture that is ready for delivery in the home within 30 days. The store also features the latest on-trend furniture styles, more than 1,000 upholstery fabrics, free in-home design visits, and perfectly coordinated decorating accessories.
