SCFMA Names 2003 Design Excellence Winners Century Leisure Lounge Chair Takes Best of Show

Century Leisure’s Andalusia Lounge Chair designed by Richard Frinier received the Lillian B. Winchester Best of Show award in this year’s Design Excellence competition at the 2003 International Casual Furniture and Accessories Market here. The awards are co-sponsored by the Summer & Casual Furniture Manufacturers Association and Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. Century Leisure’s Andalusia chair also took first place in the cast combination category, one of eight product categories judged in the design competition. Other category winners were as follows: - Cast Metal Furniture: Carter Grandle/Designer Michael Burridge, Barrington Dining Chair. - Tubular Materials Furniture: Brown Jordan International, Wave Triangular Table. - Wrought Iron/Wrought Aluminum Furniture: Woodard/Designer Carl Muller, Wellington Dining Arm Chair. - Rattan/Wicker/Woven Materials Furniture: Lloyd/Flanders, Hearthside Infinite Comfort Chaise. - Wood Casual Furniture: Brown Jordan International, 50-inch Round Canyon Chat Table. - Shade Products: TUUCI/Designer Dougan Clarke, Mistral Hardwood Pagoda Parasol. - Complementary Casual Products: The HammockSource, Deluxe Duraweb Hammock/Steel Arc Hammock Stand. - There was no winner named in the Resin/Fiberglass category. The Design Excellence Awards recognize innovation and creative product design. Twenty-five companies submitted more than 90 product designs to compete for Best of Category. Best of Show was selected from among the category winners.
