STORIS Celebrates Promotions of Culmone, DeMatteo

STORIS Management Systems, a leading supplier of Software Solutions & Services for Big Ticket retailers, announced the appointments of Doug Culmone as the Chief Operating Officer and Lou DeMatteo as the Vice President of Sales. Mr. Culmone, a graduate of Fairfield University in Connecticut, holds a BS degree in Marketing. He began his career in the furniture industry as the Regional Manager for Putnam Furniture in West Hartford, Connecticut. After spending nine years at Putnam, Mr. Culmone went on to accept the position of Retail Operations Manager for Hitchcock Chair Company located in New Hartford, Connecticut. Mr. Culmone was later promoted to Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Hitchcock, where he worked for five years. Mr. Culmone began with STORIS in 1997 as Director of Client Services and was later promoted to Senior Vice President of Operations. “We know that Doug’s history of success will be of great benefit to STORIS in his new position as the Chief Operating Officer,” stated Donald J. Surdoval, CEO. “His background in retail provides STORIS with a competitive advantage as he has tremendous insight into the requirements and challenges facing our customers.” In his new role Mr. Culmone will focus on employee development and deployment of STORIS’ latest Vision R8 application, while continuing to work with the service organization in the delivery of world class service and positioning the company for continued growth. “This is a terrific opportunity to continue to work with this great company in order to solidify our infrastructure and prepare for what I’m confident will be a very exciting future”, Culmone stated. In addition to his responsibilities at STORIS, Mr. Culmone is a member of The Advisory Board of Chubb Technical Institute, an organization STORIS utilizes to recruit technical resources. Mr. DeMatteo, a graduate of St. Peter’s College, has twenty years experience in managing the sales channel for growing application software companies servicing the distribution, manufacturing and retail markets. Before joining STORIS, Mr. DeMatteo was the Regional Manager of ROI Systems, a leading provider of manufacturing and software distribution. After the completion of eight years with ROI, Mr. DeMatteo was appointed the National Sales Manager for STORIS. “The addition of Lou to our management team has been of great benefit. His experience and professionalism has provided great results in helping us achieve our goals. We are thrilled to welcome Mr. DeMatteo into his new position of managing our entire sales channel,” stated Surdoval. In his new position, Mr. DeMatteo will focus on managing the growing sales staff and recommending to the R&D department features and functions that retailers have indicated are important to their needs. Commenting on his promotion, Lou explained, “It is key that we continue our focus on selling and supporting the small and mid-sized retailer, as well as the traditional bigger marketplace. We need to change the perception that our solutions are only for larger retailers.” He went on to explain that, “My personal business philosophy is that the customer is the most important asset. We need to strive to achieve 100% customer satisfaction.
