Pat Gervais, Dinec’s CEO, unveiled today the main directions his company will be taking in the coming years. Dinec is implementing its business plan aggressively by centralizing its main activities at its Trois-Rivières plant. “For the past few months we have been laying the groundwork through a variety of adjustments so that we can now deploy a solid business plan,” said Pat Gervais. Dinec reviewed all of its production, design, administration and marketing practices. For Pat Gervais, this exercise became necessary because of turbulence in the market. However, this effort has resulted in renewed energy and a more up-to-date vision of the company’s growth. “We’ve come through the worst and the best is yet to come,” he said. The deployment of the new business plan includes several important decisions. As of June 2005, Dinec will operate at the high-performance facilities of the Trois-Rivières plant, which meets the highest industry standards. Work has begun to add a new assembly line and to build Dinec’s administrative center. This investment will increase the plant’s productivity to handle growth. This involves moving activities from Louiseville. The transfer of close to 75 employees to Trois-Rivières, for a total of 200 jobs, is certainly good news for the city’s economic development. As well as production activities, the Dinec administrative centre will be built in the same building, allowing the manufacturer to centralize its operations and employees to work more closer together. Once production has ended at the Louisville facility, Dinec intends to use it for warehousing and materials handling. Management may sell this 85,000-sq.-ft. facility. Its prime location in the heart of the industrial park will make it easy to attract potential buyers. The furniture industry is currently facing a number of difficulties that affect the course of activities for most companies in the sector, in particular the shadow cast by Asian competition and the negative effects of the Canadian dollar. In spite of a market in decline and an extremely precarious situation forcing layoffs and closings for several competitors, Dinec is succeeding by maintaining its sales volume while cutting costs and improving productivity in all sectors. “We have now reached maturity, which means we are less fragile, and we are experiencing new growth,” said Pat Gervais. High Point furniture market: sophisticated concepts to charm and appeal Anticipating the visions of designers and customers, Dinec continues research and development and will appear at the High Point residential furniture market from April 14 to 20, 2005 to showcase its most recent finds and the evolution of its approach to consumers. The new collection will be unveiled at the High Point market.
