The Association of Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers® (AWFS®) announced the appointment of Jeff Oliverson of Atlantic Machinery and Omga, Inc. as the Chair of the 2005 AWFS®Fair Committee. The 2005 AWFS®Fair will take place Thursday – Sunday, August 4 through August 7 at the Anaheim Convention Center. Jeff Oliverson eagerly accepted his appointment and vowed to continue the concentrated efforts made in recent years to strengthen the value of the AWFS®Fair. “We’ve already implemented several exciting changes that will enhance the 2005 Fair. These include: changing the priority space selection formula, giving all AWFS® members priority over non-member exhibitors and redesigning the exhibit halls to improve traffic flow. We are grouping all non-operating machinery into hall D, renumbering the aisles in a more logical sequence and reconfiguring the floor plan to eliminate several blocked aisles. In addition, we will be building on the successful rollout of the New Product Awards Showcase and the First Time Exhibitor Showcases. And, we are currently exploring a variety of new ideas that will add excitement and enhance the experience for our attendees and exhibitors alike. “I am especially excited about the opportunity to work closely with Dale Silverman the Executive Director of AWFS® and Angelo Gangone, who recently joined the staff as the AWFS®Fair Director. They and their team bring a combination of professionalism, experience and enthusiasm that I know will make my job much easier.” Oliverson has been active as a volunteer in the Association for close to three years. Most recently he served as chair of the 2003 College of Woodworking Knowledge® committee and as a member of the Member Services and Education committees. The College of Woodworking Knowledge® is responsible for all the educational programs at the Fair: workshops, seminars and SMART Demos. The 2003 sessions were so popular that enrollments grew 30% over previous years, to over 2,000 seminar participants. Oliverson is currently the Western Regional Manager of both Atlantic Machinery and Omga, Inc. Atlantic Machinery is an importer of Italian woodworking machinery; Omga Inc. is an Italian manufacturer of sawing equipment and related products. Oliverson lives in Salt Lake City in Utah. Started in 1957 by the Association, the AWFS®Fair is recognized as one of the largest events in the industry, featuring 400,000 sq.ft. of exhibits and over 750 exhibitors from around the world, along with the largest educational seminar and workshops program in the industry. The four-day trade fair will be held August 4 – August 7, 2005 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
