For the first time, Southern California designer Barclay Butera brings his fashion-influenced, nationally- distributed furnishings line, Barclay Butera Home, to Las Vegas’ HD Expo 2005. Sponsored by HospitalityDesign, the expo runs from May 5th through May 7th at the Sands Expo and Convention Center. Butera is especially acknowledged for his attention to detail – from exact symmetrical tufting and use of nailheads to unique radius-shaped backing and multiple finishes. The designer’s elegant, yet accessible approach can be seen at Booth #2853, Barclay Butera Home (BBH).
An ideal retreat makes you feel you are somewhere special, somewhere beautiful, but still at ease – not afraid to put your feet up. Transitional in both use and style, Butera’s concept of attainable and usable elegance takes the traditional, and pushes it to its outer limit. On view will be a number of his most unique and best-selling pieces, displayed to emphasize classically tailored lines and shapes in which he takes great pride. The high comfort, top quality benchmade chairs, sofas, chaise lounges, and ottomans will be shown in white linen and white leather against a chocolate brown shag carpet, with hundreds of fabrics available, all carefully selected by Butera. COM is also available.
In the interior design business for over 15 years, Butera focuses – both personally and in business – on the home as personal haven and welcoming gathering space. Every room comes to feel like a retreat, which is his approach with his own homes. He recently purchased both Frank Sinatra’s Palm Springs famed estate ‘Twin Palms’ – where he lived with Ava Gardner – and the 30-year, Hollywood-hillside home of Desi Arnaz, Jr. He is restoring and redecorating the interiors of these classic, mid-century homes in the Hollywood Regency style that continues to inspire him and his customized furnishings designs over the last few years. Hollywood films of the 1930s and 40s evoke images of great rooms where people gather, lounge and socialize, and Barclay Butera actively engages these ideas in his approach to design. Historically, he is known for combining the look of late British Colonial Empire with French Country, Far East, and American traditional influences.
