Showtime Attendance Down 20% News-Record.com, Greensboro, NC reported that traffic at the recent High Point Showtime Fabric Show was down by 20%. The most likely cause for this cited was the Las Vegas show . It was reported that according to Catherine Morsell, director of the International Textile Manufacturer's Association, which sponsors Showtime, "some of Showtime's regular visitors didn't attend because they were in Las Vegas setting up their showrooms." Another cause cited was that "the World Market Center in Las Vegas partnered with Messe Frankfurt, a prominent organizer of trade shows in Europe, to bring a German textile show to its furniture market held the last week in July." Reason given for this move is that Brohill plans to focus on larger shows such as Las Vegas. Pulling sales reps off the road to attend two High Point premarkets, two High Point markets and two Las Vegas markets was deemed to be too time consuming. The article also quoted Harvey Dondero,president/ CEO of Broyhill who remarked, "Over the years, the role of premarket in product development and distribution commitments has diminished, making it much less significant to our dealers and to Broyhill...It is an absolute redundancy for us to do things twice within a 30-day period in High Point." Rooms To Go Will Not Use The Rhodes Name The Atlanta Journal Constitution website http://www.ajc.com reported that according to Rooms To Go CEO Jeffrey Seaman, during the next five months, Rooms To Go, "will sell all Rhodes' inventory and decide which of its 50 remaining stores across the country will be rebranded and which ones may be sold, as empty shells, to another company."
