Tropitone Furniture Co., a leading manufacturer of fine casual furniture, announced the introduction of its Lakeside seating collection as well as the debut of its Java table top, which are both designed to offer customers a ‘total look’ with a focus on indoor style and comfort for the outdoor room. According to Michael Echolds, chief executive officer of Tropitone, Lakeside has a substantial scale that is large enough to fill an outdoor room while simultaneously creating a intimate and cozy setting. “Tropitone’s Lakeside seating collection has strong architectural lines which -- depending on the fabrics and finishes used -- can create either a contemporary look with casual elegance or a more rustic look reminiscent of a spacious vacation lodge,” he said. The Lakeside collection, designed by Peter Homestead, vice president of design at Tropitone, is available in four different styles – cushion, woven, sling and padded sling – and includes a dining chair, swivel rocker, swivel barstool, recliner, ottoman, action rocker and chaise lounge. Additional pieces offered in the Lakeside Cushion collection include a lounge chair, settee and sofa. “Today’s outdoor rooms,” Echolds said, “with their gracious and fashionable furnishings are increasingly extending the comfortable living space within our homes into the outdoors – whether for formal entertaining in the evening on the patio, or relaxing casually around the pool in the afternoon. Tropitone’s goal with Lakeside is to further broaden the selection of outdoor room furnishings while also creating as much choice as possible in complementary colors and styles. For example, our Lakeside Cushion seating features Tropitone’s recently introduced Relax Plus cushion construction designed to be durable and maintain its shape while also offering a soft look and feel typically available only in upholstered indoor cushions. With seating options that range from a cushioned sofa to an action lounger with an ottoman, Lakeside gives customers the flexibility they need to create both large formal outdoor room settings as well as smaller intimate chat groups,” Echolds said. Also included in the new seating collection is Lakeside Woven which, according to Peter Homestead, works especially well with Tropitone’s new Java table top. As the newest addition to Tropitone’s Stoneworks Collection, the Java table top has the look of woven wicker but is constructed of high-density urethane making it weather resistant and more practical for outdoor use than natural wicker. Homestead said, “The Java table top with its rich, hand-rubbed patina finish wraps around a highly-textured surface that resembles genuine woven wicker. The result is a dramatic tropical motif that is more sophisticated and subtle than other tropics-inspired casual furniture in today’s marketplace. And unlike natural woven wicker, the Java table top does not require the use of glass to create an appropriate eating surface.” Java is offered in two finishes -- Coffee and Linen -- which were chosen to complement the extensive color palette of Tropitone’s frame finishes and fabrics. The Java table top is available either in a square or rectangular shape in the following sizes: 27-inch, 33-inch, 45-inch, and 51-inch squares and 54 x 40-inch, 69 x 45-inch, and 87 x 45-inch rectangles. Founded in 1954, Tropitone is based in Irvine, California, and is recognized throughout the casual furniture marketplace for its design leadership as well as its commitment to service and value. The company sells its products to retailers, designers and the hospitality trade under the Tropitone and Basta Sole trademarks. In addition to its headquarters and manufacturing plant in Irvine, the company operates a manufacturing facility in Sarasota, Florida. For more information about the company, visit www.tropitone.com.
