The American Society of Furniture Designers (ASFD) is proud to announce the perpetuation, exhibition and touring of its annual Pinnacle Traveling Exhibit beginning at the 2004 Spring International Home Furnishings Market, April 22 – 29, 2004. The 2003 Pinnacle Traveling Exhibit, which debuted at last spring’s High Point Market, featured leading designs from the 2002 Pinnacle Design Achievement Awards program. This spring, the 2004 exhibit will be shown at the Showplace Atrium spotlighting finalists and winners from the 2003 Pinnacle design competition through an attractive, educational and portable display created by ASFD President James DiPersia and produced by the ASFD. The Pinnacle Traveling Exhibit was established in 2002 to show both the industry and the furniture buying public the finalists and winners of the ASFD’s Pinnacle Design Achievement Award Program, which cites excellence in design by the most innovative designers across multiple furniture categories on an annual basis. The exhibit is shown at ShowPlace in High Point during the Spring and Fall International Home Furnishings Markets, and is available to design centers, showrooms, retailers, shopping malls, and other qualified exhibitors at other times throughout the year. When not in use, the exhibit is stored at the courtesy of Hafele America in Archdale, North Carolina, and then it is transported to various points throughout the country each year through the generosity of MGM Transport and Wiseway Transportation. Hafele America, Wiseway Transportation and MGM Transport are all Pinnacle sponsors. ASFD member and Pinnacle Committee Chairman Karl Felperin stated, “We are pleased to perpetuate our organization’s Pinnacle Traveling Exhibit featuring our ASFD Pinnacle Design Achievement Award nominees and winners. Our main focus at ASFD is to promote the advancement, improvement and support of the furniture design profession, so this exhibit is an excellent way for us to recognize and promote some of our most innovative designers within this great industry. We are sincerely grateful to our many sponsors of the Pinnacle Design Achievement Award program and welcome the opportunity to make this important presentation available to designer showrooms, furniture retailers and many other qualified exhibitors once again in 2004.” “Our customers really enjoyed viewing the exhibit. It probably had a positive impact on traffic,” claims Connie Chisholm, Marketing Manager for Nebraska Furniture Mart in Omaha. ASFD’s Executive Director Christine Evans added, “The Pinnacle Committee recently created the Official ASFD Traveling Exhibit Handbook, which is available online at www.asfd.com or in hard copy to all qualified exhibitors. This booklet explains in detail the history and importance of our traveling exhibit, while defining the many educational and promotional opportunities the Pinnacle Traveling Exhibit provides to qualifying exhibitors, including increased visibility and traffic to the exhibitors selling space, confirmation that your showroom or business recognizes the value of good design, attracting a demographic inspired by good design, and producing credible and positive word-of-mouth marketing through well-planned special events to your buying audiences.” Together with the new major underwriter of the Pinnacle Design Achievement Awards program for 2004, InFurniture magazine, ASFD is proud to thank its sponsors from the 2003 Pinnacle Design Achievement Awards program, including Appalachian Hardwood Manufacturers, Inc., Casual Living, FurnitureStyle, Hafele America Company, Hickory Springs Manufacturing Company, Home Lighting & Accessories, Laminating Materials Association, Leggett & Platt, Inc., Elmo Leather, The October Company, MGM Transport, IKERD Enterprises and Weyerhaeuser.
