Cargokids, a Fort Worth-based retailer of children's furniture and accessories, announced that The Loomis Agency, based in Dallas, has been chosen as Cargokids' advertising agency of record. Cargokids, a Pier 1 Imports company, is the nation's first value-oriented children's furniture concept. The company currently has 45 stores in Delaware, Georgia, Florida, Maryland, North Carolina, Texas and Virginia and plans to have as many as 300 new Cargokids stores by the end of the decade. The Loomis Agency will be responsible for integrated marketing efforts and creative development including advertising, store experience, customer outreach and sales promotions. The agency is most well known for their work with retail partners including Texas Dairy Queen, Stanley Steemer International and Pro-Cuts. Loomis will begin work with Cargokids beginning in March 2004. "Loomis brings a fresh eye and exciting creative to the table; they presented wonderfully-conceived ideas for our consideration and really understand our customer base," said Paul Mihic, President and Chief Operating Officer of Cargokids. "Hiring an agency is the next step in building our brand so it can support the store growth we have planned over the next decade." Cargokids is an established home retailer specializing in value-oriented, fashionable children's furniture and accessories. Founded in 1981, Cargokids became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pier 1 Imports (NYSE: PIR) in 2001. By the end of the fiscal year, Cargokids will have 49 stores located in seven states; the Cargokids brand plans to expand to 300 stores by the end of this decade. The Loomis Agency is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Loomis Corporation, a Dallas-based holding company that includes Luminous Sound Studios, a music and film production company that has done work for clients such as the CBS Television Network, SBK Records, the ABC Television Network and Warner Brothers Motion Pictures.
