Hardwood Council Launches New Website

The Hardwood Council, a national group devoted to helping building professionals, interior designers, and woodworkers more effectively specify American hardwoods, has launched a totally revamped website at www.hardwoodcouncil.com. The highlight of the new site is the Species and Stains section, which allows Web visitors to view 21 major American hardwood species in light, medium and dark stains. Design-build professionals also will find everything they need to know about hardwoods, including their working characteristics, grades, strength and mechanical properties. Finishing Hardwoods is another new site section that includes details on how to prepare wood for finishing, as well as information on dyes, stains, sealers, glazes, and more. Other sections accessible from the site's newly configured homepage are... • Specifying Hardwoods-contains smart specifying tips, a glossary of wood terms, details on where to find American hardwood products, and FAQs. • Tips & Techniques--contains a wealth of technical information about the selection, installation and care of hardwood products. • Hardwood Floors-covers a host of installation FAQs and project tips. • Mouldings, Millwork and Built-Ins-includes tips for working with millwork, builtins and hardwood tub surrounds. A Write and Request section also allows visitors to order the Hardwood Council's free Finishing Touch CD and brochure on how to specify American hardwoods and their finishes. The Hardwood Council website was launched in 1997 and updated most recently in 1999. Traffic on the site grew by 35 percent between 2000 and 2001, and is on pace for another recordsetting year in 2002.
