"The Business Journal of the Greater Triad Area" (http://triad.bizjournals.com) reported that "Alamance and Randolph counties (in North Carolina) are two of five locations in the running for a $25 million furniture-manufacturing plant that will employ as many as 1,000 people within the next several years." The article noted that a furniture manufacturer is looking to build a $500,000 square foot plant in the Southeast that will eventually employ 1,000 employees. ____________________ For those of you who remember Florida Furniture Industries... the "Palatka daily News" (www.palatkadailynews.com) reported that the buildings on the River Street site of FFI is being torn down after having been empty for more than 10 years. ____________________ "The Journal Star," Lincoln, NE (www.journalstar.com) reported that the Kush Furniture Stores will close down on July 1st if the are not sold. The article noted, that Rod Kush will continue to run is rent-to -own, delayed-deposit and furniture-on-consignment stores. The stores to close are located in Freemont, Omaha and Norfolk. ____________________ Centre Magazine (www.centremagazine.com) ran a story announcing that Sears Holdings Corp., has re-entered the furniture business with bedroom, dining and living room furniture. The story also details company's recent purchase of additional Sears Canada shares and its offer to purchase remaining shares. ____________________
