Retail Lighting Speakers Named For JULY 18th Event

Service Lamp Corporation announced the full program and named speakers for the first Retail Showroom Lighting Symposium. The one-day event will be held JULY 18 at the Philips Lighting Applications Center in Somerset, New Jersey. The information program entitled Selling Furniture in A New Light will cover four topics of interest to furniture retailers: How Your Customers See: The Perception and Psychology of Light and Color Advanced Retail Lighting: How to Think About Lighting Your Showroom Ambient Light Sources: Balancing the Composition The Total Cost of Ownership: The Right Light for the Least Cost Experts with extensive backgrounds in all aspects of lighting named to lead the sessions are: Dan Blitzer, LC, is President of the Designer’s Lighting Forum of New York, a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA), and a Director of the Nuckolls Fund for Lighting Education. Dan’s 25-year lighting career spans product development and education in both residential and commercial applications. Gary Gordon, FIESNA, FIALD, LC, is a practicing architectural lighting designer. His award-winning firm has designed more than 1,000 lighting systems for corporate, institutional, residential, and retail projects. Trained as an architect, he designs both the lighting and the lighting equipment; all of his original luminaire designs remain in production. Gary is a Fellow of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA), a Fellow of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), and a Founding Director of the Nuckolls Fund for Lighting Education. As three-term President of NCQLP, he established the first national certification program for lighting professionals. Paul Hafner, LC, IESNA, is the founder and principal of Maintained Illumination, LLC, a Buffalo, NY, company that helps lighting and electrical professionals design projects that improve lighting quality and reduce energy use. Paul has more than 25 years experience as an educator, salesperson, lighting manufacturer, and manager of large construction projects. Each topic will be hands on and visual as participants view full-sized displays in the 20,000 square foot Philips Lighting Application Center. The information segment is intended to provide a running dialog between retailers and lighting experts on the advantages and disadvantages of lighting technologies and how to best use lighting to make showrooms sparkle. Participants will have an opportunity to speak directly to an industry panel responsible for charting the course of retail lighting. Michael Konczyk, Regional National Account Manager, Juno Lighting and Leendert Enthoven, Phillips MasterColor Market Development Manager have been named to the industry panel. Service Lamp expects to name other panel members soon. Bill Tortora, Vice President, Philips Lighting Company will open the one-day symposium as a measure of Philips interest in meeting the needs of furniture retailers. Invitations for the Retail Showroom Lighting Symposium are being sent to Top 100 retailers, regional chains and retailers with multiple stores.
