America’s foremost trend forecaster Faith Popcorn will address members and guests of the New York Chapter of IFDA (International Furnishings and Design Association) at a special program scheduled for Wednesday , August 7th from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. The program will be held at Janovic Plaza on the Upper East Side. Founder and key strategist of BrainReserve Marketing Consultancy, Ms. Popcorn has had a large impact on the home furnishings and design industry with her far-reaching prognostications regarding the way people will live – and shop – in the future. "Cocooning," "Anchoring," "Cashing Out," and "Pleasure Revenge" are some of the societal concepts she has identified and examined. Her best-selling books on futurism include EVEolution, Clicking, and The Popcorn Report. Major corporations throughout the world are among her many clients. In recent years, Ms. Popcorn has created licensed home furnishings products for such companies as La-Z-Boy and Hooker Furniture. "Cocooning" Past, Present & Next" is the title of the presentation, in which Ms. Popcorn will address changes in both retailers and shoppers in New York in 2002. This is the second time Ms. Popcorn has addressed her predictions to IFDA/NY. She was the keynote speaker at "Fast Forward," a luncheon program on futurist trends held in June 2001. This sold-out event was one of the best-attended events in recent IFDA history, and Ms. Popcorn was a fascinating and dynamic speaker. The program will commence at 6:30 PM with a wine and cheese reception, followed at 7:30 by the program. Janovic Plaza will provide the refreshments, as well as a signed copy of Ms. Popcorn’s book, EVEolution. Janovic Plaza is located at 1150 Third Avenue, between 66th and 67th Streets. Tickets are $25 for IFDA members, $45 for guests, and $10 for students. For information and reservations, call the IFDA/NY office at 212-686-6020.
