Lifestyle designer Barclay Butera - who has just entered into an exclusive agreement with the prestigious Kravet Collections, a division of Kravet Inc. – focuses Barclay Butera Home this Fall on the classic aspect of color. Known to take risks with colors and blending pattern-on-pattern fabrics and textures, Butera won’t shy away from doing just that; but he will showcase tone-on-tone textural blending, allowing the textile to complement the shape of each piece. This can all be seen at Barclay Butera Home (BBH), located at IHFC Interhall H108 at High Point Market. There is no more pure statement of an elegantly livable style than clean, classic lines with pure tonal hues. Just watch the recent Gap television ad featuring Audrey Hepburn and the skinny black pant she made so famous. That piece of clothing fit her body and her simple elegance, and both she and the pant have transcended time and fashion. And so it is this Fall with Butera. His fabrics will feature embroidery, prints, velvets, ultrasuede, and chenille, but they will all have a tonal blend in order to truly highlight each piece’s shape, scale, pitch, and the details that are so identified with BBH, such as tufting, nailheads, and handcrafted wood bases. One of Butera’s keys is how he brings a sensuality or sexiness to things not innately so – whether it be a whole room or a single piece of furniture. Besides the shapes he creates and details he adds, his selection of fabrics always cements his look as a symbol of style. And this is certainly what he will bring to Kravet Collections when he develops a line of textiles and trims for release in 2008. For this Fall, however, Barclay Butera Home is proud to present for to High Point Market: Taylor Chair: This low-sitting chair, perfect for small-scale rooms, can be upholstered or slipcovered and comes with a turned leg and castors. Shown here in Laundered Bristol Oyster slipcover. Dimensions: 32” x 32”x32” Chelsea Chair: Traditional but smaller-scaled club chair has a tight rolled back, T-cushion, and a slight flared arm with kick pleat flounce to the floor. Can be slipcovered. Shown in Essence Sea. Dimensions: 32"w x 38"d x 36"h Grant Chair: Inspired by the stylishness of Cary Grant and old Hollywood, the Grant continues to be a BBH favorite. Classically-lined, high tightback wing chair with antique style rolled arms and fine tapered, exposed dark wood bracket base. Shown in new, unique Chocolate Velvet Dot. Dimensions: 33x31x45. Also being introduced (photos available after High Point) are the Studio Sofa, the Bel Air Settee, the Tiffany Chair and the Madison Chair. Says Butera, “The new introductions are sexy and full of style. I wanted to continue to focus on the scale and detail that are epitomized by Hollywood-styled homes from the 40s and 50s. This season’s textiles are luxurious, comfortable and unexpected. I love the challenge of creating a collection that is fresh and forward-thinking, and this season is sure to be well-received.” In addition to the Kravet Inc. agreement, Butera has also signed a deal with Stone America Licensing, LLC, one of the nation’s leading licensing and marketing firms. The newly launched licensing program will expand on the designer’s lifestyle brand by offering his designs for licensing to other major categories including furnishings, lighting, bedding, bath, home fragrance and fashion.
