Providing its partners, tenants, and prospective attendees with an opportunity to track construction progress, officials with World Market CenterSM announced today the launch of a web cam, which can be found on-line at: http://www.lasvegasmarket.com/webcam/. The web cam provides real-time video of construction of the project’s first phase – a 1.3 million square foot facility being built in downtown Las Vegas – planned to debut to the home and contract hospitality furnishings trade in July 2005. Providing two different views of the construction site, the web cam, a system completely customized for World Market CenterSM and installed and operated by Sting Surveillance of Las Vegas features automatic pan-tilt-zoom and offers viewers the ability to print or save images to their computer desktops. In addition, the web cam has archiving capability, enabling images to be stored for later use on a “time-lapse” DVD. Further, the web cam can be accessed at anytime from anywhere without additional software or password required, and can support up to 120 simultaneous users. “Our new web cam is a very important communications tool for the Las Vegas Market. It allows the home furnishings industry from across the country and around the world to stay abreast of our project and construction activities,” said World Market CenterSM General Manager Dave Palmer. “The technology is also an important sales tool for our tenants, as they can readily promote their Las Vegas showrooms to their dealers via the web cam, and encourage buyers to visit the Market ‘virtually’ leading up to our debut in 2005.” Due to the magnitude of Phase One, a 30-foot tall temporary structure was erected on-site, specifically for this use, in order for the cameras to have an elevated vantage point overlooking the 1.3 million square “foot-print” of the building, said Palmer. He added that viewers have the opportunity to zoom in closely and see the detail of the building, as it evolves. Plans are in the works to install two more cameras providing additional views. By providing a bird’s eye view of construction as well as archiving capabilities, the World Market CenterSM web cam holds myriad opportunities to highlight one of Las Vegas’ largest construction projects, offering an example of how downtown redevelopment is benefiting the city, said Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman. Opening in July 2005, Phase One will showcase furniture, decorative accessories, lighting, area rugs, and related segments, as well as a Design Center open year-round to the trade. Phase Two, which will encompass 1.5 million square feet on 15 floors, is expected to open in 2007.
