Arhaus Furniture, a retailer of exclusive, handcrafted home furnishings, was selected back in November 2006 to furnish the newly built home of ex-Marine and National Hero Jason Thomas and his family in Columbus, OH for the popular ABC show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.” The airdate for the Thomas family show will be this Sunday, February 11, 2007. It will be a 2-hour special beginning at 7 pm EST on ABC. The Thomas home was demolished and rebuilt within one week, with the help of handyman Ty Pennington, the design team from ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” and national homebuilder M/I Homes. Arhaus Furniture supplied furnishings for the inside of the new home. The show, which features a family in need of extensive home repairs, focuses this story on Jason Thomas, an ex-Marine, who helped rescue two police officers from the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Jason and his family were living on New York's Long Island at the time of the 2001 attacks. Upon hearing of the devastation, Jason headed to the twin towers, and along with another rescuer, helped save the lives of two Port Authority police offers who were buried in the rubble after the towers collapsed. His story was featured in the Oliver Stone movie "World Trade Center.” His home has been in desperate need of repair, but getting the work done overwhelmed the couple, who have 4 children and 2 relatives living under one roof. "The Arhaus Furniture family couldn't be happier to donate furnishings for the new home of such a deserving family. Jason Thomas risked his own life to help others in an incredible time of need, and his family truly deserves this recognition,” said John Reed, CEO of Arhaus Furniture. "Our wish for participating in this rebuild was to make the Thomas family's life a little bit more comfortable and enjoyable.” Several bedroom sets, living and dining room furniture, tables, and accessories from Arhaus Furniture were delivered via an Arhaus semi-truck to the new home in November, and placed inside by staff from Arhaus Furniture, Ty Pennington, and the crew. The Thomas family arrived back in Columbus, OH after a week long vacation for the exciting "Move that Bus!” reveal of the outside and inside of their new home.
