Frost (Frost Hardwood Lumber) Elected President of International Wood Products Association

IWPA, Alexandria, VA, May 24, 2002 - Bruce Frost (Frost Hardwood Lumber Company- San Diego, California) has been elected to the office of President of the International Wood Products Association for 2002-2003. His election took place during the group's 46th Annual Convention, April 17-19, 2002 in Indian Wells, California. "Mr. Frost's election as President recognizes his long-term support of the Association," stated Executive Vice President Wendy Baer, "and reflects the industry's confidence in his leadership abilities." Frost has often voiced his belief that the International Wood Products Association and the timber industry can work effectively together in various educational efforts to make a very positive contribution towards sustainable forest management. "One of Bruce's dedications lies in the environmental arena," Baer pointed out, "which will no doubt help the Association as it continues to work toward achieving sustainable resources, and to maintain a sustainable forest products trade." Frost's commitment of time and efforts toward these goals are evidenced by his active involvement on the IWPA Board of Directors since 1997, as a member of the Executive Committee, a Regional Vice President, and his participation on IWPA Committees including Lumber/Lumber Products, and Membership Development. He recently represented industry at an International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) hosted "Workshop on Comparability and Equivalence of Forest Certification Schemes" in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Frost has always recognized the need for strong trade associations, and found time to lend his leadership abilities. In addition to his work at IWPA, Frost is Past President of the Pacific Coast Wholesale Hardwood Distributor Association, and Past President of the San Diego Hoo Hoo Club, among others. Frost, who is Vice President and Secretary of Frost Hardwood Lumber Company, has been involved in the wood products industry for nearly thirty years. Frost Hardwood Lumber Company, headquartered in San Diego, California, has been an active member in the International Wood Products Association since 1974. A family-owned business, Frost Hardwood was founded in 1911. The Company handles some 30 species of hardwoods, both domestic and imported, as well as hardwood plywood, decorative laminates, particleboard, wall paneling and adhesives.
