Tammy Covington Nagem, vice president of operations for the High Point Market Authority, has been named to the Triad’s “40 Leaders Under Forty” list produced annually by the Triad Business Journal. The recognition goes to young leaders who are making their mark and are considered to be the future of the region. Nagem, 33, joined the Market Authority in 2002. As vice president of operations she is responsible for transportation service, parking, central registration and visitor amenities. She also played a critical role in the opening of the new Transportation Terminal in downtown High Point last year. “Tammy has been a force behind many of the positive operational changes we’ve seen in recent Markets, such as the vast improvements with transportation,” says Brian D. Casey, president and CEO of the High Point Market Authority. “Tammy hasn’t met a challenge she won’t tackle. She’s equally willing to handle the small details as the big problems—ideal when you’re dealing with an event the size and scope of the High Point Market.” “It’s wonderful to be honored for the work you do in the community that you love, and by the people you work with everyday,” Nagem says. “The award also speaks to the value our community places on making the High Point Market a success. “I’m thrilled to have earned such recognition.” Nagem and her peers were honored at a special reception and ceremony held February 22 at the Embassy Suited Hotel in Greensboro. Each honoree is also profiled in a special section of the February 23rd edition of the Triad Business Journal. About “40 Leaders Under Forty”: The annual award is an opportunity to recognize the accomplishments of leaders who are yet to reach their 40th birthday. Candidates are nominated independently and winners are selected by a panel of community judges. This year winners ranged in age from 25 to 39 and worked in a range of organizations: large companies, professional firms, nonprofits and entrepreneurial businesses. About the High Point Market Authority: The High Point Market Authority is the official sponsor of the International Home Furnishings Market, in High Point, North Carolina. Featuring more than 2600 exhibitors and attracting tens of thousands of visitors from more than 110 countries, the High Point Market is the driving force of the home furnishings industry.
