The Handmade® division of the Seattle Gift Show® has accepted 18 new companies for the August 16-20, 2003 market, bringing the total number of Handmade® participants to 60. This division will occupy approximately 70 booths on the 4th Floor of the Washington State Convention & Trade Center’s beautiful North Hall. (A list of new companies and their product is attached.) Throughout more than 4,500 net square feet, Handmade will offer collections of contemporary, ethnic and traditional crafted merchandise. Many product categories will be represented, including functional and decorative home accents, glassware, textiles, furniture, stationery and jewelry. “The Handmade® division offers an extraordinary mix of merchandise that can be a burgeoning profit center for retailers in the Northwest. The talented artisans across this region—almost half of which will only show in Seattle—bring a unique perspective to their gift items (everything from apparel to stationery),” said Andrea Casanova, divisional manager. To ensure that each exhibitor brings a new dimension to the marketplace, the Handmade® selection process remains highly competitive. After a review of applications, photos, slides, catalogs, company backgrounds and additional support materials, exhibitors are selected on the basis of originality, authenticity and appropriateness for the gift market, with an emphasis on how the product is made. The Seattle Gift Show® will include over 900 exhibiting companies, encompassing 150,000 net square feet of exhibit space housed under one roof at the Washington State Convention & Trade Center. Throughout the 13 product divisions—At Home; FoodFocus; GardenStyle; General Gift; Handmade®; The Jewelry Vaultsm; New Resources; Northwest Craft Gallery; Northwest Directions; Personal Style; Stationery & Trend; Village Arts; and The Vintage Collection—this market will feature a variety of giftware, decorative accessories, personal and fashion accessories, home décor, one-of-a-kind handmade merchandise, antiques and collectibles, tableware and fine jewelry. Nearly 15,000 buyers are expected to attend the show, which runs in cooperation with the permanent showrooms of the Seattle Gift Center (located at 6100 4th Avenue South). The next edition of The Seattle Gift Show® will run August 16-20, 2003.
