Tropitone Furniture Co., a leading manufacturer of fine casual furniture, has named Mark Gorr to serve as vice president of sales and business development. During a previous three-year tenure at the company, Mr. Gorr held several senior management positions. He has served as executive vice president of marketing and product development at Florida-based Brown Jordan International for the past ten months. According to Michael Echolds, chief executive officer of Tropitone, management is excited to have Mr. Gorr rejoin the company. Gorr is not only a furniture industry veteran but also a seasoned Tropitone executive. “Mark has a proven track record with Tropitone and a strong relationship with our independent sales representatives and customers. Over the years, he has shown a whole-hearted commitment to sales strategies that ensure success with our customers, which has contributed to Tropitone’s ongoing strong performance in the marketplace,” Echolds said. Commenting on his return to the company Gorr said, “I’m eager to rejoin Tropitone and to play a key role in shaping the company’s sales strategies and new business efforts to take advantage of emerging trends in the marketplace. Among our top priorities will be building even greater loyalty among our traditional customers and working with the product design team to develop innovative products that provide the best possible value to the market.” According to Echolds, Erwin Gremmer, who served as Tropitone’s vice president of sales and business development during the past ten months, will resume his leadership role directing sales in the Southern California territory -- the largest casual furniture market in the world. “Erwin’s extensive knowledge and depth of experience in our industry has been a tremendous asset to Tropitone in each of the positions he has held over the past seven years. Going forward, he also will serve in a management consultant role with Tropitone and work closely with Mark Gorr and senior management to define new sales strategies and capitalize on key market opportunities,” Echolds said. Founded in 1954, Tropitone is based in Irvine, California, and is recognized throughout the casual furniture marketplace for its design leadership as well as its commitment to service and value. The company sells its products to retailers, designers and the hospitality trade under the Tropitone, Veneman and Basta Sole trademarks. In addition to its headquarters and manufacturing plant in Irvine, the company operates a manufacturing facility in Sarasota, Florida. For more information about the company, visit www.tropitone.com.
