Founded in 1897, family-owned Romweber is one of the oldest and most respected furniture manufacturers in the United States. Retrospect, a Minneapolis-based furniture retailer, works closely with Romweber to create an exquisite collection of heirloom-quality armoires and dining furniture for customers seeking one-of-a-kind, antique-inspired furnishings. Using state-of-the-art equipment, Romweber keeps the spirit of the past alive through its designs. Details like solid maple frames, English dovetail joints and an 18-step finishing process set the standard in the fine furnishing industry, while extraordinary wood veneers bring a distinctive character to each piece of furniture. Unlike printed imitations, these real wood specimens have natural grain patterns that are as individual as fingerprints; no two pieces are exactly the same. Romweber veneers are hand-selected from around the world and hand-placed to bring a unique beauty to each piece of furniture. Available at Retrospect stores or through Shop Retrospect From Home, the Romweber armoire collection can be used in the bedroom or to house media equipment. All armoires include adjustable shelves, a removable wardrobe bar, and a cord-organization system. The Hinsdale office armoire features special compartments for computer components. Armoires start at $2,399. For the dining room, Romweber offers the Hillman extension dining table, which expands to seat up to ten people, and the Hillman buffet and hutch. The dining collection ranges from $1,200 to $1,599. "Retrospect is always looking to provide furniture that combines traditional silhouettes with quality construction and beautiful materials," said John Gabbert, founder and president of Retrospect. "By collaborating with manufacturers like Romweber, we are able to bring our customers the finest designs along with time-honored craftsman techniques."
