Furniture Man Mort Tenenbaum Is Dead At 79

New York Newsday (www.newsday.com) reported that Morton Tenenbaum, died recently at the age of 79 after an 18-month battle with cancer. "Morton Tenenbaum was the type of salesman who kept working," the article noted, "even after the deal was closed." The article also quoted his son Richard, who noted that "If a customer was dissatisfied with a product, he was known to reimburse them from his own pocket." Throughout his 60 year career, Mort worked at retail for Macy's, then as a manufacturer producing furniture designs in Hickory and later as a sales representative for leather producer Natuzzi. He was also a long time member of the Greater New York Home Furnishings Association and the International Home Furnishings Representatives Association. Barbara Goldstein, Executive Director of GNYHFA noted that, "Mort will stand as a pillar in the furniture industry for decades to come. The GNYHFA has made a donation in Mort's name to the Mended Hearts Association, and our love goes out to the Tenenbaum family." Mort Tenenbaum, was the father of well known furniture representative Susan Tenenbaum, Nancy and Richard, the father in-law of furniture representative Sal De Marco and a loving husband.
