Kaymed, one of Europe’s leading mattress manufacturers announced that thousands of travelers getting off their planes this weekend at McCarran International Airport won't be seeing a mirage as they hit the baggage claim area of the terminal. The company has propped a luxury queen-sized mattress atop a carousel to remind weary travelers and road warriors of the importance of a good night's sleep. The first of its kind stunt coincides with the opening of the January 2008 Furniture Market that draws more than 65,000 attendees into the city. "What better place in the world to remind people of the importance of sleep? They say New York is the city that never sleeps, but Las Vegas is the place where the action never stops," said Kaymed Chief Executive Officer, Conor Sheahan. "But take heed weary road warrior or party animal, a good night's sleep is still necessary for you to enjoy all that action." The McCarran Airport mattress comes from the Sleep Spa by Kaymed range of specialty beds. It’s one of seven new mattress offerings Kaymed will introduce to the U.S. market during the Furniture Market, all of which combine Kaymed’s heritage of craftsmanship with leading edge technologies. The new Sleep Spa lineup by Kaymed offers consumers a choice of sleep surfaces that suit their own style and comfort needs. The line includes three visco mattresses with a new patented air-cooling technology; gel, air, and a model made of natural Talalay latex. Sleep Spa beds by Kaymed retail between $1,699 and $3,199 in queen size. Founded in Dublin in 1898, Kaymed is one of Europe’s leading mattress manufacturers with a heritage of quality craftsmanship and innovation. The company offers consumers more choice of sleep surfaces under one brand, and reaches the consumer through quality retailers who can help them select the right mattress for their needs. Kaymed not only designs but also produces it’s own beds, giving it greater control of quality in every step of the process. In 2007, FL Partners joined with the descendants of the founding Woolfson family to invest in creating a global brand, including the company’s entry into the U.S. market. Today, the company operates manufacturing facilities in High Point, N.C. and Ireland.
