W.S. Badcock Corporation, one of the largest furniture retailers in the United States, announced that current Chief Operating Officer Mike Price will succeed Don Marks as Chief Executive Officer. Price will succeed Marks, who will retire at the end of this year after serving the corporation for ten years. Price will move into the chief executive position on January 1, 2009, and maintain his seat on the company’s Board of Directors. As CEO, he will oversee Badcock’s management team and corporate employees, as well as Badcock stores throughout Badcock’s territory. Price is only the second person (along with Marks) outside of the Badcock family to lead the company. “Badcock is so fortunate to have had Don Marks at the helm, and I appreciate his mentorship over the years,” said Price. “Don led the way to modernize Badcock’s business practices, and I look forward to building on that foundation.” “Our dealers deserve the best possible leadership team, and that is why we will work closely to ensure a smooth transition over the next several months,” said Marks. “Badcock has been a leader in the retail furniture industry for more than a century and will continue to lead the industry during this transition process and for many years to come.” Price began his career with Badcock in 1997 as Chief Financial Officer, where he was responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the company and later served as Chief Operating Officer responsible for the Supply Chain Group, the Administration Group, the IT Group and the Legal Department. Before joining Badcock, Price served as Treasurer of grocery store chain Food Lion for nine years. He received an MBA from UNC Chapel Hill. “We all firmly believe that this company has a vigorous and expanding future,” said Price. “I truly look forward to continuing Badcock’s legacy as a leader in the furniture retail industry.” About Badcock Home Furniture & more: Badcock Home Furniture &more is one of the largest home furniture retailers in the United States.
