Four Hands announced that it will unveil a collection from award-winning British designer John Reeves during the High Point 2008 Fall Market as part of an agreement giving the Austin-based wholesaler exclusive distribution in North America, including Mexico and Canada. “We are thrilled to have John Reeves and his wonderful talent as part of Four Hands,” said Brett Hatton, the company’s founder and CEO. “John’s collections are a fresh take on classic design that create individual works of art and luxury in each piece of furniture. The John Reeves Collection adds a greater high design dimension to the Four Hands product line, broadening our ability to better serve existing customers as well as reach out to new design customers.” Reeves, 26, has garnered rave reviews from international media for his designs including the renown Louis Collection along with table collections developed exclusively for Heal’s and Osborne & Little, both landmark brands in the United Kingdom. In only the last five years, Reeves graduated from Northumbria University, started REEVESdesign, and was named a 2004 finalist for Heal’s Discovers, which honors top designers of the future. Along the way, Reeves received the 2006 Elle Décor Future Classic Design Award for the Louis Collection console table as well as the 2006 Classic Design of the Year Award in association with London’s Victoria & Albert Museum. While continuing to develop his company, Reeves served as product developer and design consultant in Vietnam for Julian Chichester Designs. Today, Reeves continues to live and work in Vietnam so that he can oversee the development of his collections from design through finished product. A chance meeting during the 2008 International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) forged this unique alliance between Hatton and Reeves, both born in England. Hatton was walking through the ICFF and was “stopped in my tracks” by the design of Reeves’ new Caprice Bed. “It was beautiful and like nothing I had seen before,” said Hatton. “It was a sculpture sitting on his showroom floor.” The Caprice Bed is hand-crafted of recycled aluminum and roughly sand cast from hand-carved wooden molds. The raw sand surface is not polished and then plated in zinc, creating a warm texture with a grey-blue patina. Four Hands will introduce the Caprice Bed along with more than 20 additional John Reeves Collection pieces during the Fall 2008 High Point Market, Oct. 20-26. The Four Hands High Point Showroom is located in the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Union Square, Suites E201 and P202, 410 English Road. About Four Hands: As a three time winner of Inc.
