INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR 2000: The furniture sector meets in Cologne

At the INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR from 17th to 23rd January 2000, around 1,500 companies from approx. 50 countries will show furniture for all areas of the home. Almost all the German and foreign market leaders will be exhibiting in Cologne: once again, over 60 percent of the exhibitors come from abroad. The most important event of the year for the furniture sector worldwide is also registering a very large participation by German and international suppliers of kitchen and bathroom furniture. Cologne with expanded hall space from January 2000: The Cologne exhibition centre is continuing to expand: the two floor Hall 9 is currently being expanded through an extension. After the completion of the new hall section, Cologne will have over 286,000 square meters of gross exhibition space thus making it one of the largest and most flexible exhibition centres in the world. The expansion of Hall 9 blends in perfectly with the existing surroundings and improves visitors' orientation: Hall 9 will be linked to Hall 14 and Hall 10 so that a round "tour" of these three halls will be possible. At the INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR in January 2000, the new Hall 9 will be used for the first time. Both floors will be occupied by suppliers of upholstered furniture, also including the companies, which previously exhibited in Hall 13.3. Thus, in future, the upholstered furniture sector will extend to Halls 9.1, 9.2, 13.2 and 14.2. The INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR 2000 will be open from Monday, 17" to Sunday, 23rd January 2000, daily from 09.00 to 18.00 hrs. From 17th to 21st January, trade visitors only will be admitted. These include people who are professionally involved with the manufacture or sale of furniture and furnishings. Other professions qualifying as trade visitors are: architects, interior architects and designers who are involved in design and planning in these specialist areas. Proof of such an activity must be provided when purchasing the admission ticket. Saturday and Sunday open to the general public: On Saturday, 22nd and Sunday, 231 January - end-consumers will also be admitted to the INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR. The days open to the general public also provide interested end-consumers with the opportunity to inform themselves about the latest furniture programs and to gather ideas for a subsequent purchase from the retail trade. No sales to end-consumers are permitted at the INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR.
