Bedding manufacturer Sealy Corporation announced the opening of a new 130,000-square-foot Toronto facility located in suburban Scarborough. The new facility is designed to accommodate Sealy’s significant sales growth in Canada, with an eye on further improving service to its retail partners.
“The new Toronto facility shows that Sealy continues to invest in our Canadian business and support its growth,” said Larry Rogers, Sealy CEO. “Sealy Canada has always performed well and is an important part of our overall business. We will continue to invest the resources to foster its growth.”
The facility, which is more than 50 percent larger than the old plant, will offer benefits to Sealy retail partners, including improved service and increased capacity. In addition, the new showroom will make product viewing easier and its state-of-the-art training facility will better accommodate RSA education.
The 5,000-square-foot showroom and training room allows Sealy Canada to showcase its entire line inside the Toronto facility. The showroom can quickly be converted to a training center large enough to host retail partners for sales and product training.
“We have some of the best employees in the industry,” said Danny Tosh, vice president of operations, Sealy Canada. “We looked at other areas near Toronto, and found Scarborough to continue to be the best fit for Sealy. We wanted to stay close to the old plant to ensure we retained our highly skilled staff. Our employees are thrilled with the new facility and its location.”
The new, leased location was built exclusively for Sealy and is located just one mile from the major shipping artery in Toronto. The 125 factory employees and 37 office/sales associates enjoy expanded lunchrooms and locker bays for factory and office staff.
“We are excited about our new facility and look forward to our continued growth in the Canadian market,” said Kevin Sisson, vice president, COO of Sealy Canada. “Continued growth will only be achieved as a result of dedicated employees, improved production capacity, innovative products and strong retail partnerships.”
