The "Daily Courier" (ttp://prescottdailycourier.com) reported that, "American Home announced Monday that it voluntarily filed for Chapter 11 with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California, according to a press release from the New Mexico-based home furnishings chain." American Home was founded in 1936 and currently operates twelve locations throughout New Mexico and Arizona. The chain offers a full selection of home furnishings, decorative accessories, rugs, gifts, patio furniture and much more. American also offers valuable services such as bridal registry and interior design. Company History: Mr. Emanuel Blaugrund, founder of American Furniture Company, came to Albuquerque in the 1930's with hopes of establishing a high-quality, first-class furniture store; one he would be proud of; one offering value to customers at all price levels. He achieved his goal in 1936 when the first American Home store was opened at 212 central Avenue SW. Fourteen years later, a larger store was built on 4th Street NW. Continued growth created a need for more space. In 1968 the flagship store was built and still stands today on the corner of Menaul and Carlisle. Since then, American Home has expanded to twelve stores across New Mexico and Arizona.
