Gale Steves, VP, Editor-in-Chief of the HOME Group and Jo-Anne Pier, Retail Merchandising Editor of HOME Magazine will be featured at IFDA's Fall Design Seminar on Friday, October 15, 1999.
Gale C. Steves was named Editor-in-Chief of the HOME Group, which includes HOME Magazine, Best-Selling Home Plans and its associated titles, in April 1991. Under her leadership, HOME has attracted over 4 million readers nationwide and established itself as the magazine authority on building and remodeling. In many ways, Ms. Steves' approach to building and remodeling has earned her a reader-friendly reputation as she inspires millions with ideas and real solutions for home. Ms. Steves is an active member of several professional organizations including the American Society of Magazine Editors and the International Furnishings and Design Association.
As Retail Merchandising Editor for HOME Magazine, Jo-Anne Pier is responsible for designing home furnishings marketing programs with advertisers to promote their merchandise for consumers at the retail level. Specializing in decorating clinics, seminars and "how-to" demonstrations, Ms. Pier has shared decorating tips using sponsor products with thousands of consumers nation-wide. Throughout her career, Pier has produced programs for an impressive list of major department and specialty stores including Bloomingdales, JC Penney, Neiman Marcus and Pier 1 Imports.
The topic of discussion will be "The Good, The Bad and The Indifferent." A unique perspective of the market and its introductions will be taken from the consumers point of view. After all of the hoopla of new collections, latest trends and colors, how does this impact the needs of the consumer*?
Through a visual overview of the most popular home plans in the U.S. per major building developers, they will assess the problems stemming from the critical space issues, floor plan layouts, and "new" rooms for diverse purposes. By exposing the good, bad and indifferent introductions, we'll see the industries' answers to consumer needs and each of these provocative questions.
The seminar and luncheon are scheduled for Friday, October 15, 1999, 12:00 p.m. IHFC® Green Wing, 1 11th Floor, International Ballroom B. The event is sponsored by IHFC® and The International Furnishings and Design Association Educational Foundation.
$15.00 includes lunch. Advance registration recommended. For reservations mail check to Gaye McCraw, IHFC®, P.O. Box 828, High Point, NC 27261. Tickets will be held at the door and must be picked up by 12:10 p.m. on the day of the seminar.
