Broyhill Home Furnishings announced that Tom Broyhill, Vice-President of International and Contract Sales and grandson of founder T. H. Broyhill, has retired after a total of 36 years of service to the company. A retirement celebration was held at the Broyhill main office on Friday, January 2nd, where colleagues reminisced with Tom on his nearly four decades with the company and wished him well on his retirement.
“It was a bittersweet goodbye,” Tom commented. “I have been giving retirement some serious consideration for a while now and this is a good time to make the transition. At the end of one’s career people are subject to reflect on the choices they have made during their years of employment and I can sincerely say that I feel, without a doubt, that I made a great choice in working for Broyhill”. He continued, “Along the way, I have enjoyed my relationships with all the people at the company and in the industry now, those that have moved on, and those who are no longer with us. I especially want to thank those who took me under their wing and kept me out of trouble over the years.”
Jeff Cook, president of Broyhill noted, “Tom has been a terrific asset and a great advocate for our company over the years and on behalf of our entire team, I wish him a long, happy, and well-deserved retirement.”
When asked what he enjoyed the most during his tenure at Broyhill, Tom responded, “Thanks to the genius of Paul Broyhill, I would say it was my involvement in the Broyhill Showcase Gallery program which is where I felt I made my most significant contributions to the company’s growth. It has been challenging, rewarding and sometimes just plain aggravating but most of all it has been a great deal of fun. I guess that’s why I’m always smiling.”
Tom served in many diverse management positions during his tenure at Broyhill, including positions in both sales and advertising. In his most recent position as Vice-President of International and Contract Sales, he visited many of the company’s dealers across the globe, assisting with Broyhill Showcase Gallery Grand Openings, ribbon cuttings, promotions and centennial celebrations, bringing with him a unique blend of family ancestry and historical company knowledge.
“My grandfather and his brother, J.E. Broyhill, together laid the foundation of Broyhill Furniture Industries with the service and quality that prevails in the company today,” stated Tom. “I am proud to have been able to support the Broyhill legacy and the fine retailers who make our products available to consumers.”
