Lane Home Entertainment Aligns With Samsung Electronics

Lane Home Furnishings announced that it is helping its retailers increase store traffic and enhance the home entertainment shopping experience through its new strategic alignment in 2009 with Samsung Electronics. This new relationship, they say, complements Lane’s position as the leader in home entertainment and family room furniture. Lane’s line of modern home entertainment casegoods is a natural complement to Samsung Electronics’ Series 6 and 7 LCD HDTVs with ToC™ (Touch of Color™) design. The HDTVs feature a hint of amber color naturally blended into the piano black bezel frame. A must-have for home entertainment, Samsung’s Series 6 and 7 LCD HDTVs enable consumers to access and display content from a wide range of digital and multimedia devices — such as USB drives, camcorders, and PCs. Lane’s solution-minded furniture designs are perfectly scaled for flat-panel televisions and provide ample storage space to keep all the up-to-date gadgetry safely housed away. “We want to do more than provide the best home entertainment furniture, we wanted to create a new way to help our retailers engage their consumers at the point of sale,” said Skipper Holliman, president of Lane Home Furnishings. “By forging strategic relationships with market leaders like Samsung, we’re able to provide our retail partners with new ways to boost customer traffic and drive sales.” The Lane Home Furniture Entertainment tour was introduced to retailers in October, 2008. The 1,000 square foot custom-built, 18-wheel mobile showroom is currently touring the US and making day-long stops at selected Lane retailers. The state-of-the-art mobile showroom brings both the promise of the best home entertainment options available and solutions designed with men and women in mind. Samsung’s Touch of Color™ televisions are featured throughout the tour and help showcase the ultimate in home entertainment options. “Samsung is one of the most highly respected and coveted names in consumer electronics,” said Alex Hodges, chief marketing officer of Furniture Brands International (NYSE: FBN), Lane’s parent. “Their creation of innovative products to help meet consumer demands while defining their industry are completely in sync with what we want to do at Lane, which is why this relationship works so well.” The Lane Home Entertainment Tour: The Lane Home Entertainment Tour allows local retailers to serve as the home entertainment expert using the road show as a tool to match personal preferences via an electronic “Solution Builder” survey. Visitors start the tour by entering information on room dimensions, entertainment choices, family size and other lifestyle preferences. During the tour, the visitors supplement that information with preferences on coverings and motion choices. The process culminates with a customized list of furniture solutions. This first-of-its-kind technology was designed for Lane in order to identify what both men and women like, capture those preferences electronically and in turn provide solutions to the couple that incorporates what best works for both. In order to further demonstrate the differences that exist between men and women, three vignettes showcase the ultimate in recliners, stylish upholstered pieces with wide fabric options and a “Wow Room” that combines the best of both worlds into one. Once visitors conclude their tour they receive an electronic printout of the furniture pieces that combine and align their tastes as well as a discount coupon to be used at the participating Lane dealer. The Tour will travel more than 15,000 miles around the country giving customers a great first-hand experience with furniture solutions and staff.
